Afrikaans-speaking news researchers (Students or part time) Our organization is looking for AFRIKAANS speaking students who will be willing to look through community newspapers for specific stories and translate them into shorter easy to understand English articles of less than 200 words. A full brief and writing guidelines will be given to successful applicants. You should also be willing to collect the newspapers weekly. REQUIREMENTS You must be able to demonstrate, via a brief writing test that you are able to convert lengthy Afrikaans news stories into short articles that Second-language English speakers can easily understand. PERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES Pursuing a tertiary qualification Good written communication and organisational skills Fully bi-lingual (Afrikaans and English) Competent in translating Afrikaans into English Ability to follow a brief Daily access to a computer with email Journalism students will have an added advantage |
