Regional CEO Africa Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Location: Johannesburg, South Africa General Purpose of Position: Plan, direct and coordinate the downstream operations in Africa: which includes Retail Networks, BtoB, Lubricants business and aviation business. Coordinate logistics with Supply team. No. % Time Key responsibilities (List major areas of position responsibilities, in priority order) 1 % Integrate newly acquired businesses in all its aspects: commercially, operationally as well as back-office wise 2 % Leads a regional General Manager team and light regional office by providing clarity of vision; prioritizing resources; facilitating alignment of the team; setting high expectations; inspiring commitment; encouraging mutual support; and enabling development opportunities. 3 % Develops and implements multiyear business and profitable growth strategies for African region to deliver increased market share by managing financial performance; plans for growth; assessing economic factors, demographic trends, and competitive strategy; enhancing the Puma brand. 4 % Analyzes and mitigates risk to the region (i.e. relative to competition, labour threats, compliance needs, federal laws,) by proactively monitoring internal and external risk opportunities to the company; developing an action plan; and utilizing the region team to execute the plan. 5 % Provides overall direction for a region by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer-focused environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning Requirements: Experience: • Min 20 years experience in Fuels Retailing segment of Downstream Oil or experience in distribution businesses (supermarkets) or logistics in Africa or emerging countries • Demonstrable track record of having run one’s “own company” (e.g., as GM driving all components of the P&L and Balance Sheet for optimized business performance.) Skills & Competencies: • Fluent English. French and/or Portuguese is a plus • Ability to coach, advise and assist (a portfolio of) local GMs in restructuring and improving management process, organizational efficiency and pulling the top-line and cost levers. • Analytical power and financial acumen to sharply spot, rank and select the best proposals for performance improvement - quickly doing away with marginal ideas that may come to the fore • High potential to grow and quickly evolve to top executive levels in just a few years. • Helicopter quality i.e. able to operate at high, strategic level yet at the same time agile to get down on the ground and lead detailed execution when needed • Sharp business acumen - the core nature of the Puma business and the Global Leadership Team roles being commercial - and entrepreneurial by nature • Proven commercial leader • Pushes for growth, drives change. • Capable of bringing about the stronger structures, systems and processes needed in support of business growth. • Fit for leading a regional business and company - with the travel and time intensity that goes with it. |
