Finance Grants Manager

Formal accounting qualification with Accounts 3 as a major subject
Extensive experience in a financial accounting role
High level of computer literacy, specifically Excel
Preferably experience in a donor funded organisation

Major Responsibilities
 Provide analyses of budget variances (budget vs. actual spent) to Syndicate Heads and/or Directors of the Unit.
 Prepare accurate forecasts for certain syndicate financial activities.
 Liaise with Financial Manager, Syndicate Heads and Directors to track and resolve questions and issues relating to budgets.
 Perform analyses on internal and external costs.
 Must be able to multi task and prioritise among a variety of job requirements.
 Assist with the development of Financial SOPs for the Unit.
 Assist with salaries in ensuring that they are accurate and are being paid by the appropriate syndicate each month.
 Assist in reconciliation and agreement of all relevant ledger accounts on a monthly basis
 Assisting in the preparation of payment documentation
 Prepare and manage any donor audits. Maintain accounts and understand the requirements of the audit prior to the audit starting, and during and after any donor audit.
 Prepare and manage any other donor financial requirements.
 Management of syndicate’s bank accounts.
 Management of unit’s asset procurement policy. Will include the ordering, receipt, bar-coding, tracking of unit assets as well as the maintenance of fixed asset registers through all syndicates.
 Manage all aspect of insurance within the unit
 Assist in reconciliation creditor’s payments and resolve outstanding queries  Manage the Patient transport and Petty Cash reimbursement procedures

Overall Duties and Responsibilities:
The financial manager must have an understanding of financial systems and a proficiency in budgeting, accounting principles, practices and theory. Non-profit organisation(s) with donor grants experience preferred. The financial manager must possess strong interpersonal networking skills and an ability to build relationships with a wide range of people across multi-disciplinary, cross-functional boundaries.

It is expected that you will be responsible for a number of tasks that require good organisational, administrative and analytical skills.


Environment
The financial manager should be able to work in a hectic, confined environment. The environment is one where research is being conducted and strict controls and adherence to standard accounting principles is expected.
