Opto-Mechanical Engineer Opto-Mechanical Engineer My client based in Pretoria has a position for an Opto Mechanical Engineer available in their Optronics Unit. The unit consists of: Opto-Mechatronics; Systems Analysis; Signal and Image Processing and Space Photonics groups. You will be expected to conduct research, develop and provide input in fine mechanics and optics within the group. You will report into the Opto-Mechatronics group. If you are a dynamic self starter that can integrate and work across disciplines and various engineers they would like to hear from you. Requirements: • An absolute minimum of a B.Eng Mechanical Degree. • Specialization in Fine Mechanics and Optics will be an advantage. • An absolute minimum of 3 years experience in precision-mechanical design, electro-mechanical design. • Good knowledge, understanding and application of materials fundamentals, fine mechanics, optics, opto-mechanics and electro-mechanics and high quality standards. • Knowledge and understanding of new techniques and new materials within the field of opto and electro –mechanics. • Able to conduct field testing and contribute towards physical involvement in projects. • Understanding and application of project and task scope, cost estimation, time lines and demonstrated ability to plan activities. • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. • Good report writing skills. • A South African citizenship is a must as a security clearance is required for this position. Responsibilities: • Design of optical and opto-mechanical and electro mechanical systems or sub systems, including engineering drawings and configuration management. • General mechanical engineering design, construction and integration. • Basic strength of materials analysis of components. • Manufacturing and sourcing of components. Salaries will be calculated according to qualifications and applicable experience. Medical Aid and Pension Fund. Position available to be filled: Immediate or as soon as possible.
