Snr Unix Software Tester Snr Unix Software Tester Introduction: My client in Midrand is looking to employ a Snr Unix Software Tester. You will be responsible for testing IT software to ensure that changes have the affect intended by the design / development team. Your role is to understand the nature of change, analyse this, identify what needs to be tested and then carry out testing, documenting results. This job involves the development of software / systems in respect of the planning, writing, testing, implementation, maintenance of new and existing software products or systems. It covers all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Business Analysis, Development, Testing and Technical Writing. Requirements: • Grade 12; • Relevant Testing Courses; • A relevant Bachelors degree would be an advantage • 2 > 3 years software test engineer; • You have to be a SA Citizen. Experience: • Fair understanding of “transaction switching” and “online real-time processing”. • A level of understanding of the following operating systems: • UNIX, • Unix scripting language, • Linux, • MS Windows; • Tables and relational databases; • UML; • Microsoft office tools; • Specification Testing; • Black Box Testing; • GUI Testing; • Usability Testing; • Performance Testing; • Load / Volume Testing; • Regression Testing; • Stress Testing; • Automation Testing; • Test Cases; • Test Plans; • Boundary Testing. Advantages: • JUnit; • Oracle PL / SQL; • C++ and Java programming basics; • Penetration Testing; Knowledge and skills • Ideally be familiar the JUnit Testing framework. • Understand the SDLC in the programming environment and effectively apply these skills in the day to day activities. • Knowledge of Unix shell utilities and scripting. • Knowledge of Database systems (Oracle, PL / SQL). • Knowledge of Networks and web protocols. • Specify and/or develop test programs and scripts. • Have in-depth understanding of software testing, with at least 2 years' experience preferably in a Unix environment. • Have diagnostic/troubleshooting capabilities for distributed environment/database applications. • Are able to install, configure, and operate networked software applications in both Linux & Microsoft operating environments. Responsibilities: • Systems Testing; • Documentation / Technical Authoring; • Business Analysis. Roles: 1. Investigation and impact analysis of new change requests and / or business requirements. 2. Creating of test files for testing purposes with service providers or funders. 3. Assisting customers in solving specific technical problems in conjunction with key account managers and support personnel. 4. Assist in the compilation of statistics pack. 5. Follow due process as per Quality Assurance and Change Control procedures. Personal Attributes: • Must be a critical thinker and be able to identify and report defects in application programs using thorough testing methods. • Must have the ability to analyse and document business requirements in a formal FRS (Functional requirement Specification) document. This includes the ability to have a vision and in depth understanding of the user’s requirement based on what has been communicated verbally and in written form; as well as searching for & qualifying information that is integral to understanding and proceeding with solutions that has been omitted or not clearly communicated. • Plan, compile and execute test procedures and maintain results. • Responsible for managing test lab equipment configuration and technical maintenance processes. • Must be diligent and focussed. • In-depth understanding of Software Quality Assurance. • Ability to interact confidently with developers. • Ability to document internal QA procedures. • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Assist the technical support team in resolving client issues.
