Application Support Analyst (IT)

Application Support Analyst – Corporate (West Rand) - Perm
(Preference will be given to candidates from the designated groups as defined in the Equity Act)


(Basic Minimum Requirements) (Academic Record, Computer literacy and related experience)
1. Must pass the Internal exam, with a Post Level 4 (NQF 2) result in Maths and English Language
2. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, leadership
Ability to interact professionally with clients and business at the highest senior level
3. Adaptability to rapidly changing environment/technology
4. Must be willing to work flexibly and beyond working time where necessary.
5. Code 08 Drivers License (valid and unendorsed) and own reliable transport
6. Previous experience in the application support area of IT will be a benefit
7. Candidates should have basic network and desktop support experience

(Description of Job)
1. Have a full technical and business understanding of each business application, in the business process that it supports and enforces, its design, its purpose and its implementation platform
2. Project manage application implementation countrywide, including user-acceptance testing, training (with effective manuals) & first-line support once implemented
3. Design business processes that fully support and ensure the success of the business applications and create workflows, work-instruction diagrams and S.O.P.’s to support these
4. Application monitoring and problem management
5. Ongoing training and auditing S.O.P’s countrywide and in terms of the application data results
6. Meeting users to identify possible areas for improvement or extension of functionality
7. First-line design in conjunction with the Business Analysts and developers
8. Mobile support of all branches and customer sites countrywide
9. Providing technical support where necessary in conjunction with infrastructure management team
10. Managing the monitoring of business applications in conjunction with infrastructure management team
11. Project-managing all customer implementation projects and meeting with customers regularly to ensure an understanding of their on-going requirements

(Job Specific Requirements) (Skills & ability in order to do this specific job + other requirements)
1. The intellectual and professional capacity to perform the job at the required technical and business level must be proven through references and in execution of the daily tasks
2. The self-discipline to adhere rigidly to the company standards when performing daily tasks
3. Must have excellent communication skills, time-management skills and work methods
4. Variable daily hours and overtime hours where necessary will be a requirement due to the critical nature of the position
5. Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter, responsible, conscientious and diligent
6. Must be well groomed, presentable and have good interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently under constant pressure without constant supervision

(Added Advantages)
1. Potential to grow professionally in the I.T. department of our client
2. B.Com. or a B.Sc. degree in I.T. or Business Management is preferred
3. Project Management training and skills; Leadership potential
4. Business knowledge of the service industry, especially in courier industry
