Signal Processing Engineer, Pretoria Signal Processing Engineer, Pretoria Our client has a position available for a Signal Processing Engineer in their Modelling and Digital Science (MDS) group that focuses on advanced mathematical modelling and simulation, information security, as well as artificial and computational intelligence. The unit assists the organisation’s drive to strengthen science, engineering and technology outputs; develop human capital and invest in emerging research areas, including nanotechnology, synthetic biology and mobile intelligent autonomous systems. Requirements: • A minimum of a BSc or B.Tech degree in computer science. • A Master’s degree with focus on signal processing/ image processing will be an advantage. • A minimum of three years’ experience working with DSPs and GPU (digital signal processing and graphics processing unit). • Working experience with simulation environments Matlab / SciLab / FreeMat and Simulink. • Working experience in software development for DSP and Micro-controllers. • Mastery of low level program languages such as C++, C, and Assembler. • Ability to work well and to integrate in a group. • Ability to clearly and concisely document work and processes. • South African citizenship is required for the requisite security clearance. Responsibilities: • Solve problems related to image and signal processing using an applied research-oriented approach. • Implement signal processing algorithms specific to Biometrics on DSP/GPU or a microprocessor/ microcontroller. • Contribute to the design of system platform and architecture of Information Security systems. • Transfer appropriate skills to other researchers and students.
