Senior Mine Manager (Underground) Contract (renewable) position in the mining sector in Zambia, Africa. Single/married residential status position. The right caliber incumbent could, upon performance be offered the Chief Mining Officer position, which is an Executive position within a relatively short period of time. REQUIREMENTS: • Bsc Degree/Diploma in Metalliferous Mining Engineering • Must have a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (Essential) • Very experienced mining engineer with good operational underground mining experience • Knowledge of tracked and trackless systems is important • Would expect him to have very good knowledge of mine planning and other technical service departments experience • Experience of working in Africa would be an advantage COMPETENCIES: • Ability to manage the underground mining operations which includes: Technical mining skills such as ventilation, explosives, survey mining, legal, health and safety, geology and engineering • General operation skills such as general management, computer literacy, negotiation and conflict handling. • Leadership skills including mentoring, coaching and strategy planning and direction. CRITICAL FUNCTIONS • Strategic direction and management of the total underground mining process. • People Management of the entire mining process to create a performance driven culture. • Ensure effective communication with all relevant stakeholders and act as the link between top management and the shaft. • Ensure that the Business Plan is achieved through effective planning, resources allocation and co-ordination. • Ensure Legal compliance to protect the interests of the Company and create a safe workplace. • Co-ordinating the functioning of all the departments on a business unit (engineering, survey, ventilation, human resources, rock mechanics, geology, finance and production) REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS: • Package is negotiable according to experience (taxable). • Benefits: Travel Allowance; BUPA Gold medical; Life Insurance; Generous leave; Excellent Bonus Scheme Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. |
