Technical Metallurgical Manager, Open Pit Copper/Cobalt Regrettably, we are unable to consider people who do not have prior copper/cobalt mining industry experience. • Contract expatriate position in the Mining sector in the Dem Rep of the Congo. • Salary around 180000US$ per annum plus benefits. (taxable) • This is a single status position, also a residential position as opposed to a fly-in-fly-out position. Ample leave is provided for with a travelling allowance paid per annum in addition to the annual package specified. • The right candidate could be considered for the position of Chief Operating Officer in the short to medium term. WITH THE ABOVE IN MIND WE ARE LOOKING FOR: • Metallurgical or Engineering Degree or equivalent • Solid operational experience and management expertise with the focus on open pit copper / cobalt oxide deposits with a strong emphasis on hydrometallurgy is ESSENTIAL. • A proven production safety and cost management track record • Experience and expertise in managing technical services (Planning, Geology, Survey, Rock Mechanics, etc), with very good knowledge of engineering and hydrometallurgical processing. • Need to show exceptional interpersonal skills and business acumen REPORTING TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, HE WILL: • Oversee all Operational departments • Set and achieve production targets and within approved schedules and budgets • Manage the expenditure of operating and capital budgets, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation • Promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices amongst all employees, which will enable a healthy and accident-free working environment. This operation has big expansion potential and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be intimately involved in the future success.
