Senior Software Engineer - embedded c . JOB PURPOSE (one statement explaining the overall purpose) To generate and maintain quality software, design and associated documentation that conform to current company process and meets the project requirements 2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (major results expected to be achieved) · Technical Area Specialist – Architects, creates and reviews design specifications for software components, subsystems or overall systems as required and as outlined in company product development process · Produce well structured, documented and maintainable code to meet project goals · Assist in definition and promotion of the companies defined quality standards for engineering · Provide maintenance support for existing products to ensure prompt rectification of problems · Ensure proper tests, debug and verification of designs prior to release as requested · Contribute and adhere to disciplines, process and tools in line with company product development process · Participate in, and contribute to, formal design and project reviews · Create work breakdown and estimates for work tasks and deliver to agreed timescales · Assist in definition and creation of build environments and configuration management systems to ensure consistent usage and correct release of software. · Liaise at peer level with customers, suppliers and partners 3. DIMENSIONS (relevant detail on size of team, reporting structure, budget etc) · Working with Project team of various sizes Working on multiple projects 4. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS · At peer levels in external organisation, Customers, Suppliers, Third Parties · At peer levels in internal organisation · At all levels within project team 5. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS Essential · HND/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology discipline, or equivalent experience, preferred · Knowledge of Electronics and a detailed knowledge of C programming language in an embedded environment · Computer literate in current packages e.g. Microsoft Office Suite · Excellent problem solving skills and analysis · Experience of Real Time Applications and Operating Systems. · Excellent integration skills with multiple parties’ software. · Will have several years’ commercial software development experience within the Consumer Electronics/Design for Manufacture industry. · Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills. Desirable · STB Technologies DVS, MPEG, PVR/DVR, HD-TV, · Experience of Middleware or Conditional Access Systems 6.
