In-Country Human Resources & Safety Manager PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not speak French and have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and NOT negotiable). • Senior Management Contract/Permanent position in West Africa. • Salary up to US$275K Gross plus 30% short term incentive bonus. • Residential or FIFO position • Reports to: In Country Manager and a functional reporting relationship to the Group Human Resources Manager • In Direct Reports: Site HR and Safety, Exploration HR and Safety and HR and Safety resources PRIMARY PURPOSE • To effectively set up and coordinate the Human Resources and Safety intent of the Company and assist to develop systems and processes at a site level including auditing and educating on such systems and processes. • Look to consider and incorporate all activities in Country including the Exploration program, the active mine sites and the corporate office to ensure a broader agenda and the requirements of the Company are met. • A key component of this role will be the understanding and development of the Industrial environment and strategy on behalf of the Company within the country. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Must speak and write fluent French and English • Business/HR – Safety related qualifications • At least 10 years Human Resource experience including business administration including a strong safety focus also Medium to Large business experience within the mining industry KEY OUTCOMES: • Deliver a country wide Certified Agreement to cover mines, exploration and the office • Deliver performance based pay-outcomes which include elements of operational efficiency • Develop CDI labour law and rates manual • Benchmark the Company against heavy industry competitors in CDI • Understand industrial relations and judicial system • Develop localization plan • Ensure equitable expat contracts and terms • Assist in development of training plans • Advise on strategies for cost effective expat recruitment and retention • Key point for centralized recruitment • Negotiate better tax and visa conditions SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Technical and Managerial Competence • Ability to develop, implement and manage company policies • Management reporting, budgeting and Statutory Compliance • Excellent interpersonal and management skills • Excellent written and communication skills. |
