JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the General Manager, the Production Control Manager Schedules jobs through various cost centres to meet proposed delivery dates and advises the Sales Department of any changes to the original schedule, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Update information on job status.
• Prepare operations and capacity load reports.
• Conduct production meetings.
• Prepare and maintain the press schedule on a daily basis and approve the post-press production schedule.
• Prepare and expedite components list for each job.
• Review stock authorisation tickets and job detail reports.
• Review spoilage work tickets.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organisation's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a bachelor’s degree and five to ten years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
