Marketing Manager - Homeware

Our client, a trusted South African household brand, is searching for a hands-on manager with a strong FMCG marketing orientation, to join their dynamic team. Reporting directly into the Marketing Director, this position presents the potential for career growth to the right candidate over time.

Key business processes and performance indicators:
• Identifying and researching new product opportunities, both locally and internationally.
• Strategic product planning and driving new product development: from conception to point-of-sale promotion – including the co-ordination and launch of new product lines (preparation of new product costings, market research (price surveys, trade and competitor analysis), sales projections, budgets and promotional campaigns).
• Oversee packaging design (briefing and co-ordination of creative work with design agencies).
• Attending major international trade fairs to liaise with international associates, keep abreast of world market trends and identify new product development opportunities.
• Supporting and guiding National Key Accounts Managers and sales staff to understand customer business models and embark on collaborative planning to improve customer relationships.
• Develop strategies to enhance brand equity and market share.
• Assisting with sales budgets and sales forecasts.
• Preparing and controlling operational budgets.
• Margin management and preparation and implementation/controlling of pricing strategies and maintenance of market share.
• Development and implementation of sales, promotional and advertising campaigns.
• Liaison with Field Sales regarding retailers requirements in regard to plannogram compilation, implementation and maintenance and assist field sales in implementation of merchandising strategies for new products, negotiation of shelf space, reports on competitor activity and customer returns.
• New product presentations.
• Sales trend analysis (use of JDE to extract sales information and key reports).
• New product inventory management.

Person specification:
 Relevant bachelor’s degree
 Well developed business acumen
 A minimum of one year highly related experience
 Strong commercial orientation
 Strategy formulation
 Availability to travel internationally three to four times per year
