PRODUCT MANAGER

Location: Octo Place, Techno Park, Stellenbosch
Description
The Product Manager is responsible for the management of products, through their lifecycle, from conceptualisation, development, launch and maturity.
Please note that this position might involve international travel.
Competencies

 Ability to retain a holistic view of products and processes, incorporating all aspects ,from business to operations to customer support

Minimum Requirements
 Relevant Tertiary Qualification
 2 years Product Management/Product Development experience preferably in a software or telecoms environment
 Experience working in South East Asia, Africa and other developing countries an advantage

Product
 Ensure you have a basic understanding of all MXit products and how they work
 Ensure you have a full understanding of your products and how they work
 Manage the ongoing product lifecycle, from conceptualization to development and launch, to maturity. Cycle to be repeated to ensure opportunities are maximized to extend the life of your products while maximising revenue and/or user experience and brand value, depending on the priority of your products. Ensure products are continually enhanced to improve their efficiency, professionalism, ease of use, profitability, etc
 Identify key success indicators for your products
 Implement processes for the administration of your products
 Establish a relationship and work with the Product Administrators who will assist to administer your products, so they know your requirements
 Implement reporting for your products
 Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly product performance reports are collected and summarized including tracking the success of products against key success indicators
 Share the administration of your products with the Product Administrators, and in their absence, carry out all administrative functions
 Market research
 Carry out competitor research in relation to your products
 Carry out target market research in relation to your products
 Manage product marketing and branding
 Manage revenue and profitability where applicable
 Source partners and suppliers where applicable
 Assist with establishing contractual agreements with partners/suppliers/users, etc where applicable

Processes
 Identify opportunities and assist with implementing new, and improvements to existing, processes and systems
 Implement processes within the Product department and across departments to ensure your products are managed and supported
 Ensure supporting staff are trained

Documentation
 Ensure document control – copy, brief docs, contract templates, etc.
 Ensure all documentation related to the product is loaded onto the intranet

Any other ad hoc duties as assigned by your Line Manager
