HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

Reporting to: HUMAN MANAGER
Neg. R12000 to R16000.00 pmonth

Purpose of the post:
To provide effective and efficient support to all departments. Ensure the best practice principles are applied consistently.

Major duties and responsibilities:

• Recruitment and Selection.
o Receive request for recruitment from line
o Draw specs
o Advertise
o Shortlist CV’s and send to manager for short listing
o Invite applicants for interviews
o Draw and confirm interview questions
o Conduct interviews
o Regret unsuccessful interviewed applicants
o Draw offer letters, send for signatures and sent to successful applicant
o Keep recruitment register
o Request contract after receiving acceptance letter
o Ensure that the contract is signed by all relevant Heads of departments
o Ensure that new employee signs contract and submits all relevant documents
o Update recruitment register
o Send information to payroll
o Submit monthly recruitment statistics to director’s meetings.
o Conduct exit interviews


• Employee Relations.
o Assist in formulation of charges.
o Play an advisory role at the disciplinary hearings and keep minutes thereof.
o Provide expert advice on the interpretation of the LRA, BCEA, and EEA to employees and syndicate heads.
o Assist with counselling sessions
o Review and develop company Standard Operating Procedures.
o Communicate SOP’s to employees and syndicate heads.
o Advice, monitor the implementation of SOP’s.
o Attend all staff/management meetings as and when required.




• Training and Development.
o Compile Workplace Skills Plan for the division.
o Monitor the implementation of Workplace Skills Plan.
o Identify and advice employee training needs within division.
o Submit training reports to the Workplace Skills Plan Committee.
o Conduct induction to new employees on a monthly basis.
o Coordinate and facilitate training interventions and keep records thereof.
o Provide weekly/monthly training reports
o Monitoring of study assistance process.

• Personnel Administration.

o Conduct leave audits for the syndicates.
o Communicate all changes to payroll about medical aid.
o Advise on available medical options and complete appropriate forms.
o Liaison with Payroll Department regarding staff medical aid queries.
o Assist staff members with completion of provident fund forms.
o Advising staff members on provident fund rules.
o Advise new employees on remuneration benefits such as salary structuring, car allowance, etc.
o Control and monitor salary budgets in conjunction with syndicate heads and WHC HR Department.
o Verify salary increase information.
o Administer and ensure processing of overtime
o Administering staff loans

Work conditions:
• Office environment; sustained posture in a seated position and prolonged periods of computer operation.
• Work involves minimal travelling to WHC Offices.

Qualifications, work experience, skills and attributes:
• A completed Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Human Resources or related field.
• Minimum four years experience in professional human management.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Strong computer skills with extensive working knowledge of VIP or MS Excel and other MS Office software.
• Ability to work well and cooperatively with other staff and departments
• Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
