HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Reporting to: HUMAN MANAGER

R320KPA

Purpose of the post:

To manage and provide an effective and efficient integrated Human Resources support function to the company, by carrying out the Human Resources Strategy and using the best Human Resources practices, through the implementation of policies and control measures.


Major duties and responsibilities:
• Induction.
o Conduct induction process to new employees on a monthly basis.
• Recruitment and Selection.
o Draw and approve advertisements.
o Advise print media or websites on placing of advertisements.
o Receive, shortlist and advise candidates.
o Attend and conduct interviews with candidates.
o Write appointment and regret letters of senior level positions.
o Submit monthly recruitment statistics to director’s meetings.

• Industrial Relations.
o Attend and hold disciplinary enquiries and grievance procedures.
o Keep minutes of disciplinary enquiries.
o Provide expert advice on the interpretation of the LRA, BCEA, EEA to employees and syndicate heads..
o Defend the company at the CCMA.
• Training and Development.
o Compile Workplace Skills Plan.
o Identify and advice employee training needs.
o Monitor the implementation of Workplace Skills Plan.
o Submit training reports to the Workplace Skills Plan Committee.

• Personnel Administration.

o Do leave audits for the syndicate heads.
o Do leave reconciliation for the syndicates.
o Assist employees in completion of medical aid forms.
o Liaison with Payroll Department regarding staff medical aid queries.
o Assist staff members with completion of provident fund application forms.
o Advising staff members on provident fund rules.

• Compensation and Benefits.
o Monitoring of study loan forms.
o Advise new employees on remuneration benefits such as salary structuring, car allowance, etc.
o Control and monitor salary budgets in conjunction with syndicate heads and WHC HR Department.
o Compiling salary increase schedules.

• Policies and Procedures. (SOP’s).
o Review, revise and develop company Standard Operating Procedures.
o Communicate SOP’s to employees and syndicate heads.
o Advice, monitor the implementation of SOP’s.

• Human Resources Influence And Business Acumen.
o Attend and participate in monthly management meetings.
o Ensure that all HR related decisions made by HR Department and syndicate heads are in the best interest of the business and its employees.
o Ensure that HR Dept. is credible, trustworthy, well-informed and communicate with syndicate heads and employees.
o Challenge “status quo” policies and actions.

Work conditions:
• Office environment; sustained posture in a seated position and prolonged periods of computer operation.
• Work involves minimal travelling to WHC Offices.

Qualifications, skills and attributes:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Strong computer skills with extensive working knowledge of VIP or MS Excel and other MS Office software.
• Ability to work well and cooperatively with other staff and departments



Work experience:
• Minimum four years experience in professional human management and a Bachelors’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Languages:
• Bilingual in both English and Afrikaans.
• Knowledge of one of South Africa’s indigenous language.
