Mid/Senior PHP Developer A niche Cape Town based digital media agency requires a Mid-Senior PHP Web Application Developer with proficient PHP experience.The successful candidate will be responsible for specification, design and implementation of all new features as well as improvements to a PHP/AJAX based enterprise web system. The team is small and so a successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high degree of autonomy, a self-starting attitude to problem solving and an ability to take responsibility for a project. Good communication skills are also essential. Responsibilities: 1. Primarily you will be working alongside technical head with a view to eventually taking over many responsibilities. 2. Training of two juniors who will work under your supervision. We like to follow the classic “work smart not hard”. 3. Attending client project meetings. 4. Redevelopment and maintenance of existing systems which will include learning about our complex mapping products and help manage and maintain all our existing web based systems using this technology. 5. Research, design, write and test new and existing web applications. 6. Get involved with day-to-day planning of projects and their implementation. 7. Get involved in software design. 8. Systems Integration 9. UX (user experience) - looking to establish this as a core skill. Requirements/Experience: Must have a minimum of four years experience with the following: 1. Proficient experience PHP 4/5 2. Server management - Linux/Ubuntu, Apache, 3. MYSQL administration and database design 4. Client side experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX etc (photoshop advantageous) 5. Complex CMS integration 6. Accountability - you will be responsible for all project performance 7. SEO knowledge (advantageous) Most importantly - motivation and enthusiasm for cutting edge web systems!
