General Manager Requirement Overview At Paarl Media, printing is not just about putting ink on paper. Paarl Media now stands at the threshold of its next major phase of an ongoing evolution which commenced at its formation in 2000. We are establishing a new web offset, magazine and commercial printing operation in KwaZulu-Natal which will become operational towards July 2010 at our new premises in Mahogany Ridge, Pinetown. Key Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the general management of this web offset printing operation, which includes inter alia the following duties and responsibilities: - the building of value added relationships with all stakeholders, with specific reference to customers, suppliers and employees; - negotiations with and management of suppliers and or contractors pertaining to the procurement of new equipment and general production material; - the maximisation of both the efficiency and productivity levels of all aspects of the operation; - the adherence to all legislation; - the evaluating of new technology and capital requirements as determined by the overall strategy of the Group; - active management and implementation of capital projects within the company. Skills, Experience & Education The position requires an energetic, creative thinker with sound analytical and problem solving skills. It is therefore envisaged that the successful candidate will be a graduate, who has successfully completed a post graduate qualification in General Management and who has exceptional business acumen and commercial awareness/entrepreneurial skill with proven experience of sales, key account management, as well as company brand management. The successful candidate will have perfected these skills in a high speed-manufacturing environment. Although not essential, preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and previous experience in the printing industry.
