Applications must be received by Monday September 27, 2010 Start Date: November 1, 2010 Compensation: Starting at R4,500 per month This is project-based position that is expected to be the equivalent of half-time. Who We Are: These Numbers Have Faces, Inc. (TNHF) is a Portland, Oregon USA NGO working in Cape Town, South Africa. Through college bursaries and a dynamic Community Impact Model based on service, mentoring, and financial literacy, TNHF is empowering township youth to reduce poverty. Position Description: The Co-Director will manage the TNHF Programme in Cape Town. This includes, but is not limited to facilitating the college admission process for new and continuing students; facilitating all aspects of the Community Impact Model; recruiting new students from local high schools and community programmes; creating partnerships with local high schools and colleges, supporting the academic, social and spiritual growth of programme participants; and completing other duties as needed (for a full description please visit our website). Position Qualifications: The candidate must a) possess a Bachelor’s degree or 4 years work experience in the fields of youth work, community development, social work and/or within the South African educational system; b) be proficient in written and spoken English; c) have a high level of public speaking ability and interpersonal skills; d) possess knowledge of South African townships and township culture; and e) have a strong set of values and is committed to seeing young people succeed and building the new South Africa. Is it is preferable that the candidate be conversational in Xhosa and Afrikaans.
