Program Coordinator Connect-123 facilitates internship, volunteer and study abroad opportunities for overseas students and graduates in Cape Town, South Africa and in Buenos Aires, Argentina in a wide range of fields including business, education, health care, human rights, journalism, social work, and sustainable development. All programs are designed to create equal value for the Connect-123 interns/volunteers, and for the local organizations with whom they are placed. In 2011 a third program will be established in Shanghai, China. During our first five years of operation in Cape Town, we have experienced exceptional growth and by the end of 2010 will have welcomed almost 300 program participants in this year alone. Each of our Program Coordinators is responsible for a specific sector or sectors - eg education, healthcare, sustainable development, business, and will: • guide individuals interested in that sector through the application process • match applicants to the right opportunity with a host organization within that sector • assist them with preparations for their trip to Cape Town • facilitate the richest possible learning experience for program participants once here • engage in coaching/mentoring sessions to help them overcome difficulties and provide them with career advice • identify fantastic organizations and companies that can potentially host interns/volunteers • help these host organizations define work packages and build and maintain relationships with them • continuously deepen their knowledge of the sector they are responsible for by attending industry events, reading relevant publications and building their network of contacts • establish and maintain relationships with universities (mainly in North America) – to raise awareness of our program within that community and to develop specific programs for individual universities • participate in Connect-123’s social program, and assist with the provision of other support services. Requirements Third level qualification Experience working with young people preferred. Overseas work/travel/volunteer experience a plus. Background in Education / Human Resources may be advantageous.
