Mechanical Engineer JOB PURPOSE: To identify, develop and deliver improved reliability processes through leading and supporting the site’s maintenance continuous improvement programme. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: • All duties are to be carried out at all times in compliance with all Huntsman Corporate and Huntsman Tioxide EHS, business conduct policies and guidelines. • Define and communicate a Reliability Improvement Strategy for the Site. • Implement the reliability improvement programme and the application of root cause failure analysis to develop proactive behaviour and create a continuous improvement culture which supports the site manufacturing excellence initiative. • Liaise between functions to ensure consistency, co-ordination and best practice to eliminate losses from poor practices, expedite learning. • Establish loss accounting systems and procedures to ensure the understanding and cause of all Manufacturing loss. • Facilitate communication between functions to ensure best practice standards and specifications are maintained and improved in all manufacturing activities including design, procurement, maintenance and operation. • Keep abreast of and apply where appropriate new condition monitoring technologies, reliability improvement 'tools' and processes. • Manage a small team and external specialists that carry out condition monitoring and NDT activities on site and includes interpretation of results. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Proficiency in leading manufacturing improvement teams using root cause analysis or six sigma. • Expertise in establishing and monitoring condition monitoring programs for critical equipment. • At least five years experience, preferably in the Chemical or Mining Industry. • Proven leadership capability either in a maintenance or project role. • Achieved or be working towards a Government Certificate of Competence.
